Obituary of Ron Stone

Ron was the beloved husband of Jennifer and loving father to Daniel and Joanne. He was delighted to be "Papa" to Aidan and Isla and to be Grandad to Freya. He was a dedicated Labour councillor for St George West for 30 years and has been described as an establishment rebel, passionate about Bristol. He cared deeply for social justice and his hard work over the years has been recognised by all faiths and political allegiances. He championed many causes, and helped thousands of individuals over the years. He was very proud of having been made an honorary Sikh. With his wife Jennifer he showed championship winning King Charles Spaniels and made the "Maynorth" prefix known across the world. He had stood on many of the breed associations and committees, written numerous articles and been a judge at the highest level - including Crufts. He was a skilled photographer and camera enthusiast and was seldom without a camera at his side. Prior to his interest in photography, he was an accomplished horticulturist, exhibiting prize winning roses and guesting on Gardener's Question Time. We have all been very shocked at his passing but know he has left the city of Bristol a remarkable legacy. Above all, he was a good and decent man. The funeral service is open to all those that wish to pay their respects. Please do not feel that you have to wear black. Ron would not mind what clothes you wear.
