A Wonderful Man. When he passed my heart broke. Earlier that year he virtually fought tooth and nail for and with me, and I live outside of the ward of St Georges so technically he didn't have to.. Every year I think of him and thank him for sharing his strength. You're gone but definitely not forgotten.

Where do i begin writing, how do you honour such a great man. Ron was the best part of my day, a hero for me in many ways. Ron was twice my age, twice the man. Ron made Bristol a brilliant place to live, welcoming friendly, sharing stories about his adventures, grand children, his cavaliers and breeding skills amongst some of the amazing developments that he was aiming to take shape and implement around Bristol. From the bottom of my heart Ron, you will always be remembered and spoke of with pure kindness. Thank you so much for all your achievements.

I'd been out of touch with Ron for a long time, and went on-line to check his email address. I was shocked and saddened to read of his death back in December. Since I live in the USA, I only met Ron on-line, through a mutual interest in King Charles Spaniels. He was the nicest, kindest, most helpful person I've encountered in a long time. He was a wonderful teacher about spaniels, and never hesitated to pass on his knowledge. My deepest sympathy to Jenny Stone.

Ron was incredibly generous with his time, he was always supportive, and if he felt that there was a problem with your proposals, he would work with you to find the best solution. He was a mind of knowledge and was always willing to help. Legend is a word that is used far too loosely used today, but his vociferous approach to his counselling role was a shining example of working for the greater good, and the city will miss him.

It is with sadness that I heard that Ron Stone passed away in Hospital on 30th December 2015. I remember when he & Jenny first started in Cavaliers & then went onto own; breed & Judge King Charles Spaniels, a breed he became besotted with. I also remember their first Charlie Amantra Tickled Pink which I had the pleasure of judging. He had bred Champions & had the supreme accolade of judging at Crufts. He also gave a lot of time to being Chairman of the King Charles Spaniel Association for over 20 years & upon his retirement he & Jenny were rewarded with Honorary Life Membership which they accepted. I remember him ringside camera in hand happily snapping away at exhibits & then explaining to Raoul how his various cameras worked. Apart from Photography, Car Boots were his other past time, where he obtained many rare cameras at knock down prices. Whilst working for the Bristol Fire Service he also became a well respected Councillor for the Labour Party. Sadly another oldtimer leaves us, but his legacy continues in his dogs. Mine & Raoul's deepest condolences go to Jenny & children. John Blewett Hon Sect. King Charles Spaniel Association

My husband and I both met Ron when he was an amazing technician at the University of Bristol back in the early nineties. He was always kind, amazingly knowledgeable and capable. He was always helpful but we got to know each other better after he recognised that we were marching with him and all the other technicians when they were striking over pay. Imagine my surprise to find the same Ron Stone as a Labour Councillor, even though we stood on opposite sides of the elected mayor referendum. Ron was always courteous and honourable in that time. His legacy will live on in his ward as well as in the memories of those lives he touched. Wishing his family our love and sympathy.
