Gary lost a short but brave fight against Cancer and passed away peacefully on the 7th September at St. Peters Hospice. Gary was the Son of Betty and Roy Hibberd, he leaves behind Sisters Pauline & Jadine, Brothers-in-Law Richard & Chris, Nephew Jonathan & his wife Emma & Great Nephew Thomas, Niece Andrea & her Husband Martin. Gary was born to Roy & Betty in Bristol in 1950. His Mother Betty was half Chinese and Gary was extremely proud of his Chinese heritage. He attended Novers Hill Special School and Withywood Secondary. He then went to Lufton Residential School to train in agriculture and horticulture where he proudly won first prize best in show with his cow at the Bath & West Show. Gary went on to work at Remploy in Fishponds for a few years during which time he participated in the Special Olympics and won a Gold Medal. He then went to work for Tesco in Brislington and stayed for the next 25 years. He received many letters from customers saying how helpful he had been and also for handing in purses and handbags including a free meal from a local Chinese resturant because the weekend takings were in the owners handbag which Gary handed in. Gary retired in May 2015 but sadly after only 2 months became ill so did not live long enough to fully enjoy his retirement. Gary lost his Father in 1995 who he was very close to. He then lived with his Mother for 15 years who he cared for in her long illness until she passed away in 2010. He enjoyed lots of holidays with his Mum & Dad and visited many countries. His favourites were Greece, Greek Islands & Cyprus. Gary enoyed going for days out with his Aunt Eileen every 2 weeks. Gary had a great love of music, especially jazz and Acker Bilk as his Uncle David was a celebrated Jazz musician in Bristol. Gary was fanatical about Brunel and anything connected with him and visited the S.S. Great Britain on many occassions and loved to collect models of the ship and Steam Train models. Gary is very greatly missed by all his family and all who's lives he touched.
