Philip was a good friend to me. His success on the river was unrivalled. He always fished the water and the conditions. That is why he was so successful. His passions were his family and the Charity which he supported, with the aid of his family tirelessly and with good humour. I will miss his jokes and his company on the river bank. However, that is nothing compared to the loss which his family are feeling right now. My thoughts are with Lenka and Adela and his family. RIP Philip

"One thing becomes clearer as one gets older and one's fishing experience increases, and that is the paramount importance of one's fishing companions" (John Ashley-Cooper) "The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope." (John Buchan) Great memories and grateful thanks for all your help, support and direction. Thank you Phil for giving me the opportunity for so much pleasure and hope.

I met Phil in 2013 on joining the Bigsweir Syndicate and although we were both masons for many years our paths had never crossed. It was always a pleasure to be in his company with his lovely sense of humour, depth of thought and generous spirit. His family were his great love and he will be sorely missed by all that knew him but most particularly by Lenka and Adela. Phil I do hope that wherever you have gone the fishing is as good as you enjoyed on earth.

I met Phil at a lunch in the Connaught Rooms , London and the conversation soon turned to salmon fishing. He told me about his beloved Wye and the Syndicate and singed me up then and there.Such was his enthusiasm and generoursity as it was for for all he did and all he met. Alas I only knew Phil for about two years but will never forget him. We will all be the poorer for his passing but will treasurer the fondest of memories.

I first met Phil in 2015 when I had the opportunity of joining his fishing syndicate. Although my association with him was therefore only very brief, limited to a few chats on the banks of Wye last year, he was clearly a man of great compassion and immense awareness of the needs and interests of others. His love of fishing was our mutual bond and I am sad that I was not able to know Phil for longer as I'm sure we would have had many other things in common too. Rest in peace Phil and my thoughts are with your family and the many close friends who loved you and will feel your passing so deeply.

I knew Phil through the Bigsweir syndicate and remember being struck by his human decency. We often exchange messages and I grew very fond of Phil over time. It was a friendship conducted over the distance between London and Bristol but his warmth, consideration and generosity shrank that distance so that, when we met, it was like we'd seen each other the day before. He is a sad loss to us and will be remembered very fondly. God bless you Phil, Paul

I first got to know Phil in 2010 when I was introduced to by Darin Griffiths. From the moment I meet you, you welcomed me as though we had know each other for many years. In fact we had so many common interests and connections via Avon and Somerset. You will be sadly missed by all that you knew and touched the hearts of so many. RIP Phil. My Condolences to your Wife and daughter having had so much pain over the last few years.

Met Phil through masonry and later joined the fishing syndicate. With me being a beginner, Phil was a great mentor even lending me his favourite rod under the terms that i had 'better not break it'........A gust of wind and my van door had other ideas!! I confessed and found a replacement. Such a generous and decent gent he gave me some free fishing tackle!! Only knew you for a couple of years but honoured to have spent the time with you my friend. Rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers with your family xx
