Derek was a great cub leader to Toby, offering so many opportunities to learn new skills and have fun. He was also a huge support with the Beavers by offering practical help and so much advice. We are sad to have lost him early, but will smile when remembering all the great times. Thoughts and prayers are with all his family and friends.

Derek made such a difference always. When my boy was a cub he encouraged & developed his confidence and helped him believe in himself. I see the results of that every day when my boy expresses confidence in his abilities. Derek cared about all the cubs & will be greatly missed. With deepest sympathy to his family

To Mary, Tony and Gwen and family, Our love and prayers to you at this sad time. It was a pleasure to know and work alongside with Derek at 145th. I know I will always remember him with a smile - my most favourite memory was the log flume on 145ths trip to Legoland. Four leaders squashed in, and Derek rocking the boat so much - we literally howled with laughter. RIP Akela x
